Resident Evil 7 Game Ships 3 Million Copies Worldwide
CAPCOM announced on Friday that it has shipped 3 million copies of its Resident Evil 7: biohazard game worldwide. The franchise as a whole has sold 76 million units since the series’ first installment in 1996.
CAPCOM added that the the live-action Resident Evil film series has the highest box-office gross for a film series based on a video game. The film franchise‘s total global box-office gross is more than US$1 billion. The latest film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, opened in Japan first on December 23, and then in the United States on January 27.
Resident Evil 7: biohazard shipped the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 24. The game is fully compatible and playable on Sony‘s PlayStation VR headset, and it supports 4K on the PlayStation 4 Pro. The game shipped in Japan under the title Biohazard 7: resident evil on January 26.
