Live-Action Hurricane Polymar Film’s Trailer Reveals Nagareda Project Insert Song
The official website for the live-action film of Tatsunoko Productions‘ 1974 anime Hurricane Polymar began streaming a trailer for the film on Thursday. The video reveals and previews Good Morning America‘s theme song “Kanashimi Naki Sekai e” (Toward A World Without Sadness” and Nagareda Projec’s insert song “Tatakae! Polymar.” “Tatakae! Polymar” is a cover of the original anime’s opening theme song.

The film opens in Japan on May 13.

The film celebrates Tatsunoko Productions‘ 55th anniversary. Koichi Sakamoto (Ultraman Ginga S, 009-1: The End of the Beginning) is directing the film, and Shinsuke Ōnishi (Ultraman Cosmos, Daimajin Kanon) is writing the scripts. Sakamoto is a Jackie Chan fan who became a stunt actor in America. He served as a stunt coordinator, producer, and director for much of the Power Rangers franchise. This projects marks his first time working on an adaptation of an anime.
The original anime series centers on Takeshi Yoroi (voiced by Kazuyuki Sogabe), a man who transforms into superhero Hurricane Polymar. The super-powered suit of his superhero identity can transform into one of five vehicles in order to fight crime.
The 1974 television anime inspired the 1996 New Hurricane Polymar video anime project. Anime Sols streamed the original anime series, and Urban Vision and Discotek Media released the video anime in North America.
