"Gankutsuou" Mastermind Returns To "Godzilla Vs. Evangelion" For Album Art
The music of Shin Godzilla and Neon Genesis Evangelion squared off in the “Shin Godzilla vs. Evangelion Symphony”, a concert event featuring a full orchestra that will run for 4 performances on March 22 – March 23, 2017, at the Bunkamura Orchard Hall venue in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. The concert is sponsored by Khara, Inc. with Hideaki Anno serving as executive producer and the composition, arrangement, and general direction of the event being handled by music producer / composer Shirō Sagisu. This concert marks the 1st time that the music of Neon Genesis Evangelion will be played in Japan with a full orchestra since the “Evangelion Symphony” event that was held in 1997. The CD is due on December 27th.
The two CDs run 120m minutes. Masahiro Maeda (Gankutsuou, proto-Ghibli Nausicaa and the Studio’s Castle in the Sky and Porco Rosso, and early Gainax Royal Space Force – The Wings of Honnêamise and Gunbuster, as well as contributing Angel designs to Evangelion, also an early version of Mad Max: Fury Road) who did work for the previous vs. promotion, is back for the free-press art.
