"Tales of the Unusual" Adapts Short Story by Osamu Tezuka
Actor Tetsuya Fujiwara plays a millionaire leading a double-life in an upcoming special episode of Tales of the Unusual (known in Japan as Yo ni mo Kimyou na Monogatari) that is based on a short manga by Osamu Tezuka. The episode is based on Yoru no Koe (“The Voice of the Night”), a story that was published in Tezuka’s Kuuki no Soko (“Under the Air”) collection.
In Yoru no Koe, Fujiwara plays Eiichi, the CEO of a major IT corporation who spends his weekends as a homeless person living in a cardboard house. In his disguise as a beggar, Eiichi falls in love with a young woman, whom he then tries to woo in his CEO persona, but tragedy results. The story will air as part of the Tales of the Unusual `17 Autumn Special Edition episode, which will broadcast on Fuji TV on October 14, 2017, from 9:00 PM – 11:30 PM JST.
