Share a Beer with Kenshiro in Suntory’s "Hokuto no En" Campaign
Suntory, a Japanese brewing and distillery company, is teaming up with ultra-violent manga / TV anime Fist of the North Star for a wacky promotional campaign entitled “Hokuto no En” (“Feast of the North Star”) that includes a smart phone app that allows customers to transform themselves into post-apocalyptic goons and to share a beer with Kenshiro.
By purchasing specially marked 6-packs of The MALT’s beer, customers gain access to a QR code for a smart phone app for iOS and Android systems. The app allows users to take pictures of themselves, then it translates those pictures into an original Fist of the North Star character using templates overseen by manga artist Tetsuo Hara. More than 320 million unique portraits can be created by swapping eyes, mouths. ears, hair styles, bodies, and other features.
The app users can then insert themselves via their new post-apocalyptic avatars into 5 original comics featuring Kenshiro, Raoh, Toki, Thouzer, and Jagi, and then share the results with their friends via SNS.
