"Gundam Origin" Anime Makes Plans For Adapting Battle of Loum For First Time In Next Arc
Over the weekend at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, Shuichi Ikeda (voice of Char Aznable), Saori Hayami (new voice of Lalah Sune), Akeno Watanabe (Kycillia Zabi), Shigeo Kiyama (Ramba Ral) and Megumi Han (Salya Mass), with theme song singer Hiroko Moriguchi, and general director/manga author Yoshikazu Yasuhiko presented a premiere of the fourth chapter of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime series, titled “Unmei no Zenya (Fateful Eve).” This will screen in theaters across Japan for a limited two-week run starting November 19. The cast and creator discussed this finale of the first Origin story and upcoming plans.
The cast expressed relief that they have the high expectations of Char’s story complete and hopes that it’s what fans hoped to see.
Yasuhiko then explained that planning is done and production has started on an anime adaptation of the Battle Of Loum storyline, previously announced, but now planned for fall 2016.
The arc was told in the 13th and 14th volumes of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s Gundam The Origin manga, published in July and December 2006. This early, important battle in the One Year War occurred on January 15 and 16 in the Universal Century 0079 and featured some of the autocracies that resulted in the Antarctic Treaty which, among other things, forbade the use of weapons of mass destruction.
It was never directly illustrated in the first Gundam TV series aired in Japan from 1979 to 1980.
