Gainax Makes Public Apology for Concerns Relating to Lawsuit
In a statement issued yesterday on their official website, Gainax director and co-founder Hiroyuki Yamaga addressed the lawsuit against the company from fellow founder Hideaki Anno. The suit, for approximately 100 million yen, was in response to non-payment of a loan to Gainax from Anno’s Studio Khara, in the wake of non-payment of royalties to Khara.
In particular, Yamaga addressed worries caused by the suit and by Gainax’s financial state, specifically their branch companies in Fukushima, Niigata, and Kyoto, as well as GAINAXWEST. He stated that they are currently reorganizing and relocating, so that they can get back to the sort of company they’re met to be.
As for the future of the company, Yamaga says he wants to focus mainly on planning and production, and hopes to continue to make anime loved by everyone.
