Fans Get Fired Up Over Spike Chunsoft’s Pro-Wrestling Teaser
Japanese video game developer Spike Chunsoft is teasing a new project with a 10 second trailer featuring a pair of pro-wrestlers locking up, and fans are already speculating that this footage heralds the resurrection of the Fire Pro Wrestling series.
Although no official announcements have yet been made, fans have noted that the video uses of an isometric layout for the wrestling ring and that it also emphasises grappling, both of which are stylistic and gameplay choices associated with the Fire Pro Wrestling series.
Spike Chunsoft acquired the license for the Fire Pro Wrestling series from Human Entertainment in 2000, but there hasn’t been a new entry since September of 2012, when a version of Fire Pro Wrestling was released for X-box Live Arcade. If this new game is indeed Fire Pro Wrestling, it looks like it will be a return to the old-school format.
