Daisuke Hirakawa to Release Drama CD Commemorating Voice Acting Debut
Daisuke Hirakawa will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut as a voice actor with a drama CD titled “20DH,” to be released on May 27.
Hirakawa voiced Makoto Ito in School Days, Noriaki Kakyoin in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, and Rei Ryugazaki in Free!, along with many others. He has also done the Japanese voice-overs for Orlando Bloom’s characters Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean and Legolas in The Lord of the Rings.
On the drama CD, Hirakawa will be voicing 20 different roles by himself, including 11 brothers from the same family. He has also amassed a group of other voice actors who also have the first name Daisuke to assist him. This “Daisuke Squad” will include Daisuke Namikawa (Ulquiorra in Bleach, Hisoka in Hunter x Hunter, Jellal in Fairy Tail), Daisuke Ono (Jotaro Kujo in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Sebastian in Black Butler, Erwin Smith in Attack on Titan), Daisuke Sakaguchi (Shinpachi Shimura in Gintama, Leonardo Watch in Blood Blockade Battlefront), and Daisuke Kishio (Kaname Kuran in Vampire Knight, Kurama in Kamisama Kiss).
Namikawa will voice the character, “Grandmother,” and Ono, Sakaguchi, and Kishio will voice three different, “Mother” characters. All other characters will be voiced by Hirakawa.
The story is about a family with 11 sons, none of whom are showing absolutely any signs of getting girlfriends. The dejected grandmother and mother characters concoct a plan to fix this. The listener will be able to play the heroine character and record lines with their own microphone.
