Actress Anna Yamada Stars in Psychological Horror Film "Misumisou"
Announced back in July of 2017, new information (including the main star and the movie poster) has been published for the live-action film adaptation of Misumisou (“Liverleaf”), a psychological horror manga by Rensuke Oshikiri about bullying and bloody revenge in a small Japanese town. Actress Anna Yamada fills the leading role as Haruka Nozaki.
Originally serialized in Bunkasha’s Horror M magazine, Misumisou is also published in a 2-volume omnibus edition by Futabasha. The story follows Haruka Nozaki, a middle-school student who transfers to a new school when her family moves to a small town as a result of her father’s work. There Haruka encounters horrific bullying, and since the school will be closing in 2 months after the last class graduates, no one is willing to step in to help her.
Haruka’s parents eventually pull her out of school, but after Haruka leaves, another girl named Rumi Sayama becomes the target of the bullies’ wrath. Rumi blames Haruka for her ill treatment, and her resentment eventually touches off a shocking and gruesome tragedy of violent revenge.
Misumisou is directed by Eisuke Naito. The film hits theaters in Japan on April 07, 2018.
