A New Version of "Pokémon Sun and Moon" May Be Coming to Nintendo Switch
Pokémon Sun and Moon have just come out for the Nintendo 3DS, but there are already rumors floating around about the next Pokémon title. According to Eurogamer, there may just be a third title coming that will compliment Pokémon Sun and Moon and it might be headed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon would be titled Pokémon Stars, and would be a lot like Crystal was to Gold and Silver, Emerald was to Ruby and Sapphire, and Platinum was to Diamond and Pearl. One of Pokémon fans’ greatest requests since the series inception has been that a main series title makes its way to consoles. Until the Nintendo Switch, Game Freak was hesitant to do that because part of the allure of Pokémon is traveling with your game and trading with friends and strangers.
With the Nintendo Switch’s handheld/console hybrid design, though, it makes perfect sense to bring Pokémon to a higher fidelity platform. It’s rumored that although gameplay and the environment of Pokémon Stars will be the same as Pokémon Sun and Moon, the game will be getting an HD facelift to make it look good both on the higher resolution 720p Nintendo Switch handheld screen, and TVs when the Switch is in console mode.
Pokémon Stars is rumored to be coming to the Nintendo Switch late next year.
